This site aims to expose the secrets of the vibrant Melbourne night life to residents and visitors. We strive to provide reviews of bars and restaurants only after we have been to them and experienced the place for ourselves.

We have mapped the bars and restaurants reviewed so as to take the hassle out of finding the venue and to assist in the successful planning of a night out. Also we offer some Chasers to help plan a night out where we suggest several places to experience in an evening.

Finally, please feel free to leave a comment or email us and challenge our reviews or to tell us about somewhere new. We are always looking for new places to experience.

Review:

There is something special about Borsch, Vodka and Tears, predominantly it comes across as a restaurant, however there aren’t many restaurants that I can think of that can boast 90+ vodka’s and infused spirits alone…let alone bar’s. If you are a connoisseur of spirits then you can have any of these spirits straight up or the extensive cocktail list goes to great lengths to break down the overwhelming list into simple treats for the taste buds. If spirits are not your thing, there are Polish beers and over 160 wines to keep you entertained so you don’t feel you are missing out.

The interior feels very gypsy-esque, from the candelabras at the bar which has almost engulfed the candlestick over time with wax to the large mirrors down the back which have a warm aged feel to them. Behind the bar are an assortment of house infused spirits and special interest bottles which all would look out of place anywhere else, yet they somehow fit perfectly together where they sit. The dimly lit room just adds to the whole appeal and really just helps people relax and focus on conversation and the infusion of flavours.

The food at BV&T is amazing, the tapas selection is always a delight to have and will satisfy all taste sensations. As the name suggest there is Borsch on the menu and they are well worth trying on a cold winters night to reignite the muscles. The infusion of flavours from the cocktails and food go perfectly here and fails to disappoint, on top of this the food is very well priced and fast to come out.

Final Thoughts:

Experiencing it once is not enough, and you will find yourself returning again and again to try something new or just to have an old favourite.

Pro’s:
+ 90+ vodka’s to try
+ fantastic food
+ Well themed interior
Con’s:
- Regularly booked solid in advance on weekends
- Can get quite loud
- Closes relatively early
