Review:
There are some places in Melbourne that go out to tailor to a particular group of people, which is fine as long as everyone that you are with is part of that group. Having everyone with the same tastes though is not always achievable, which is where The Order of Melbourne comes in as it offers somewhere to go any time of the day or night with anyone. The simple minimalist interior is very classic and doesn’t demand attention like some bars. This helps with its relaxed environment and means that the visit is centralised around who you are with rather than where you are.
Predominantly the menu at The Order is mostly based around its extensive wine list, which has something to suit all occasions and taste’s, this is complemented by a decent selection of beers and spirits if that is more what you are after. If you are after food, there is a nibbles menu on offer to fill a hole. There is an outside area upstairs which is worth a visit on a warm summer’s night, and there is often events there like live music or burlesque nights to mix up an evening.
The Order was a funny bar to review as each time we visited, there was a different atmosphere inside. This is not necessarily a negative thing, it just means that the experience inside can vary depending on who you are there with and what the crowd is like.
Final Thoughts:
It doesn’t matter why you are there or who you are with, The Order of Melbourne simply makes sure everyone feels welcome and is having a good time.
Pro’s:
+Great atmosphere for any occasion
+Broad reasonably priced menu
Con’s:
- Only stairs to get to the second floor (need to be young at heart)
- No indication at street level how busy it is upstairs
Score:
Atmosphere: 6
Service: 4
Menu: 4
