Bar: Revolver

Time is a foreign concept inside Revolver as not matter what time of the day or day of the week it is, the party is always only just starting.

Review:
For the uninitiated Revolver has two main reputations that revolve around the same idea. It’s known as THE place to go on a Sunday morning…no, not at 1am…at about 8am. Why, you might be asking? Well the simple answers is that inside the party is only just starting and there are very few places around to kick on if you are still in the mood. For this reason it can get a bit of a bad wrap as a dodgy venue for obvious reasons, but seriously “you will never never know, if you never never go”, and if the concept of going to a club on a Sunday morning is a bit daunting, it is open at “normal” hours.
Getting inside can be a bit of a challenge as the bouncers generally don’t take any fuss. Inside, Revolver is very “retro”, with a heavy influence on minimal lighting, very similar to Lucky Coq and The Croft Institute. There are several areas inside, however unless busy there is only the main area is utilised, which is around the back where there are old sofa’s to hide and kick back watching the place kick on and listen to the music, which is always of a high quality. Its not exactly the sort of place you would start a night, as time flies inside, and its 4am before you know it. Its also not the sort of place to catch up with someone as the music is always pretty loud. However with that said no matter what time of the day it is, there are people around and something happening.
The staff at Revolver are straight up, like the bouncers, they are helpful if needed however they get in and get the job done. With that said, around the bar there are always interesting characters to meet and share a story with, which just adds to the whole experience. There is definitely a “no frills” experience offered at Revolver, the clean and polished affect seen in so many bars these days isn’t present here, however this is the appeal of the place.
EDIT: As we have tried to focus on the fact that it is really worth going to Revolver if you have never been despite what you might have heard, I might have neglected to mention the other side of the coin. So…For those that are still out on a Sunday or do want to go out on a Sunday, Revolver does offer one of the best places to go. The people there go to appreciate some of the best DJ sets played over the weekend, ensuring that the atmosphere there is second to none for finishing off the weekend on a high. ~Macca
