This site aims to expose the secrets of the vibrant Melbourne night life to residents and visitors. We strive to provide reviews of bars and restaurants only after we have been to them and experienced the place for ourselves.

We have mapped the bars and restaurants reviewed so as to take the hassle out of finding the venue and to assist in the successful planning of a night out. Also we offer some Chasers to help plan a night out where we suggest several places to experience in an evening.

Finally, please feel free to leave a comment or email us and challenge our reviews or to tell us about somewhere new. We are always looking for new places to experience.

Review:

Down the iconic, ever changing street art canvis, Hoiser Lane you will find Misty, another of Melbourne’s iconic hidden bar secrets. Standing the test of time, Misty shows that attitude helps when it comes to surviving the ever changing bar scene in Melbourne. The quite trendy interior fits perfectly in the lane, and offers plenty of areas to drink and enjoy the surroundings in good company. The bar its self is quite simple and relatively small, however even when busy it doesn’t take too long to get a drink…if you do get caught waiting though there is always the large paper chandelier just inside the front door to ponder over.

From Blazers to Beer, there is something on the menu to suit any desire during the night, the cocktails are an in house spin on different traditional and new cocktails, all of which are worth a try, and this their beer menu is quite extensive with many different flavours and styles to chose from. The snack menu is also worth a try as it veers towards gormet food rather than the “same old” snack food one might get at other places.

The music inside is pretty much whatever they feel like playing, however one thing that does come through when there is that what they do play they like to play loud. This means though that depending on the music, it is not necessarily somewhere to go sit back and relax, however this comes with the attitude of Hoister Lane. Misty doesn’t really offer anything out of the ordinary, which is probably why it can be overlooked when heading out into the city, however what it does do it does well.

Final Thoughts:

Hidden away in a VERY central CBD location, Misty, offers a great place to go any time of the night.

Pro’s:
+ Central location
+ Range on offer at the bar
Con’s:
- Can get loud inside
- Not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea.
